Our Trimming Standards
We follow ANSI A300 pruning standards. That means proper cuts at the branch collar (no flush cuts, no stubs), no topping, and never more than 25 percent of the live canopy removed in a single session. Topping hurts long-term tree health and we will not do it.
When to Trim
- Late winter to early spring is ideal for most species. The tree heals fast as it leafs out.
- Summer is fine for corrective and clearance cuts, but avoid heavy shaping in extreme heat.
- Fall works for cleanup after storm damage but is not ideal for heavy structural pruning.
- Emergency work (storm damage, cracked limbs) can happen any time, including winter.
Pricing
Most residential trimming runs $200 to $800 per tree depending on size, access, and how much cleanup is needed. Multi-tree properties get volume pricing. Crane work or serious climbing is quoted separately.
Common Questions
Can I just have you remove one big branch?
Yes. Single-branch jobs are common. Minimum service call applies.
Do you haul away the trimmings?
Yes. Chipping and haul-away are included in every quote.
Will you top my tree?
No. Topping is bad for tree health and dangerous long term. We will recommend a proper crown reduction instead and explain the difference on site.
